How effective is castrating an older dog?

It will calm it down if you castrate. I've had dogs all my life, I've got 3 at the moment, we had an older dog castrated and the change was amazing. Also I advised my daughter in Law to get her dog done when he was about 8 because he was more than a handful, he's 10 now and he's a different dog.
