Socialism A Good Theory Gone Bad?

Don't you think socialism is only good theory not enforceable because humans aren't perfect? What I mean is...socialism develope around the idea of if you work equally hard, you'll get equally paid...isn't that a good thing? My dad always told me socialism was an idealogy where we all work together and put our earnings into one big box and divide it equally afterwards. But humans aren't perfect because some are hardworking while other slack off so after awhile socialism seems unfair. I think socialism economic wise can work if we have a perfect society but it'll never happen. What is your take on socialism?
